A unique book about one person's journey, that many of us can relate to. Demartini is real, and not "how-to." She shows us her strenghts and triumphs as well as her faults and failings, and is not preachy in any way. She is simply telling her story.
Demartini also gives valuable information on Wicca. I learned a lot from this book- things I thought I already knew. Like what a coven is, or what the core of Wicca is.
A good portion of her book is dedicated to a previously unpublished mage tradition called Omnimancy. She does an excellant job of describing this method of practicing magic. There is a lot of information on Omnimancy and Demartini gives examples from her own life of how Omnimancy is different from all other magical traditions.
All in all, a fascinating read.
This book is a refreshing change from the regurgitation I see happening with neo-pagan and specifically books about Wicca. Ms. DeMartini shares a journey that for most of us is a deeply private and personal one that is both individual, but yet usually shares certain hallmarks amongst various people.
Her book is a personal memoir, but also a book of advice for other seekers along the occult and magickal paths that could lead to Wicca for some and for others to another esoteric path. The struggles the author encounters may mirror some of those we've all experienced along the way and her experiences, both positive and negative can serve as a lesson for many who walk these ways themselves.
It is definitely a one of a kind book that the spiritual seeker can relate to and learn from and those who've walked in the path of the Old Ones for longer can use to spark their own reflections and as a teaching tool if they choose to share their knowledge with a coven or grove.
Highly recommended!
