I was truely amazed by this artistic work by Rhonda Millen. She has captured what it takes to make a classic approach to the imagination. I would difinitely recomend to all readers to read this book, for the ending is worth the wait.
As a child Manny Steven's witnessed an automobile accident. Eighteen years later he is still haunted by the face of the tragedy's sole survior. Within the realm of recurrent dreams Manny has saw the image of that lone survivor transform from a frightened child into a beautiful young woman. But she is not the only one who has staked a claim in the world of Manny's dreams... Manny saw something else at the sight of that tragedy he witnessed so long ago,... and there is nothing beautiful about it, setting him on a quest to find answers as to what this entity was and what intent did it have for the helpless child it hovered over.
Manny gets those answers when the girl from the accident resurfaces in his life, eighteen years after the fact... and she is not alone...She has a guardian angel... at least that's what some might call it. And why not? Throughout the years since the accident it has warned her, protected her, defended her,... closely watching her every move... perhaps a bit too closely. But this being is no angel... guardian or otherwise. This life form is in a league all of its own, with an insatiable lust for human suffering.
The story brings Manny and his soulful soul mate, to a chilling romantic climax that sends them spiraling into a world where life and death hold no secrets and only the strong survive with their sanity intact. However, this cunning and possessive entity, also finds himself on unfamiliar ground. Not only will he have to match wits with a human mind that refuses to submit to his relentless torment, he also gets slammed by a blast from his own past, in the form of a vengence seeking ghost. But Scratch is not the only one who will feel her wrath, Manny, as well as his fair damsal in distress, will also find themselves at the brunt of this restless spirit's torment and lunacy.
The conflict between Manny, Scratch and the ghost, bring out a powerful, emotion packed turn of events for all. This book is sure to keep you up late, with all the lights on. Not to mention, you might want to check all the closets and under the bed, as well.
QUIET TIME IS OVER... AND SCARTCH WANTS TO PLAY!
