One of the most readable and practical introductions to this teaching that I have had the good fortune to come across for some time. Seymour B. Ginsburg has managed to convey in a straightforward, easy to understand way many of the key concepts and ideas related to Fourth Way work and the Gurdjieff teaching. Full of practical exercises that give a real flavour of what it means to work on oneself. Easily stands alongside Ouspensky's 'In Search Of The Miraculous'. A practical workbook that any enquiring seeker, including this one, may return to time and again
If you are curious about the Gurdjieff teachings then you will probably find this book to be an excellent primer. I did. As a student in one of the author's Gurdjieff study groups I had the benefit of using a draft of this book as a study guide. It explains in common language many of Gurdjieff's key concepts with the added bonus of helping the reader get a sense of Gurdjieff's relationship to western esotericism. Mr. Ginsburg is truly an expert in this field and genuinely dedicated to improving his reader's understanding and development.
