Reader's Review: Llewellyn's `Silver Spiral' pendulum, reviewed

the photo and the product description [[ASIN:0738712450 Silver Spiral Pendulum]] give the impression of beauty, slim, light, and unique. this is an illusion. i am experienced in pendulum use, use several frequently, and make performance demands on them. in my experience, open coils are very effective in responding to ki, over closed or solid designs: thus my attraction to this one. the photo pictures a sleek light pendulum: however, this one is heavy (.9 oz). the idea conveyed to me by the ad copy, is that this pendulum is unique design: this pendulum is assembled from easily available off-the-shelf parts, and the one i received, sloppily assembled by someone who either didn't care, or was unskilled. the pendulum itself is a blow-up version of a smaller more, thoughtfully designed beautiful twin: my 4 oz workhorse, of identical design, which cost me less than half the price. the silver on this one, isn't: it is chrome: and the pendulum i received, not completely chromed: half the coil is a conspicuous ugly zinc. the wire cuts and wrap show lack of care. the mashed misshapen not-silver C-ring, linking the chain to the pendulum, is poor design choice relative to a thin spiral lock-ring, which is a feature on my small pendulum of this design. the chain presents as thin, for the hefty piece. and the pearl is undersized: unnecessary effort must be applied to the fingers to pinch the orb to resist the swing weight. as a tool it works well, but not as well as the promotional photo intimates due to its weight: it is a clunk to use. all in all, this is a blow-up of a standard design, a copy cat disappointment of its advertising. were i would to see this pendulum with a very thin axis, at less than 5 oz: i would buy it in a heart beat
