Into the first three pages of this book, I felt it had been written for me. It brought to light all the reasons for unplanned eating, and addressed many situations with excellent, realistic ways of dealing with food and the emotions surrounding overeating. The author stresses the importance of the reader becoming their own best advisor where their body is concerned, rather than relying on some new magazine article or idiotic fad diet. He points out that healthful eating and recognizing internal hunger is the key to maintaining a healthy body; weight loss is a side effect of that process. No deprivation here! I've reccommended this book to my family and friends, and I refer back to it often.
I thought Body Intelligence was great. I've been a diet junkie for years. Atkins, South Beach, Jenny Craig, you name it, I've tried it. I lose a few pounds but always give-up, feel awful, and go back to my old ways. The idea of Body Intelligence makes sense to me. Since reading the book I think I understand the reasons why I eat, and I'm starting to change some of these habits. I'd recommend this book to anyone who's tired of yo-yo dieting.
