I am searching for a book that treats dream meanings seriously as a tool for self-knowledge, and I was very enthusiastic when I first glanced through this book, because many of the meanings were very sensible and therefore useful. I quickly became disconcerted when I found that whereas one definition will be very practical and reasonable, another is supersition-based and nonsensical. For example, on adjoining pages I found "closet" to be symbolic of something being stored or hidden, and the suggestion that if you dream something is in the closet, it may be time to release something. Makes total sense. Then on the next page, I found the symbolism of drinking coffee as denoting that your friends disapprove of your marriage intentions! Huh???? It is this way all through this sad chimera of a book--extremely useful information cheek by jowl with utter inanity. I finally understood this strange aggregate when I looked at the copyright page and found that this book was apparently cobbled together by cutting and pasting from no less than five previously published books. Shame on all those who were involved with this unholy recombinent disaster.
