I have not read any of the other reviews because I did not want to skew my review. If I rebut or support any other review, it is by coincidence.
Have you ever done something you knew was wrong just to have it come back and bite you? I have. I call it karma and have always accepted it as a balance that exists without explanation or definition. This book addresses what I call Karma.
I happened on this book by chance while visiting a friend. I ended up taking it home and keeping it for a couple of months. It took a long time to read the first time through because it kept putting me to sleep. Oddly enough, I wasn't bored, my eyes just closed, it was the strangest thing...... Some nights I read for a long time, others I fell asleep before finishing one page. Normally I would have dumped a book that put me to sleep but this one was different, probably, because I tried doing what the book suggested and saw immediate results.
The book has a lot of religious undercurrent but the non-believer should not let that turn them off. If you can get past the frequent use of the "G" [GOD] word, you will find this book is not at all about religion. How many times have you heard somone say, "I don't really believe in God but I believe there is more." This book is for anyone who believes there is more. This book defines that inexplicable force that surrounds us all and tells you how to harness it to improve your life.
I bought my own copy of the book and everytime I start sweating the small stuff, I pull the book out an read it again. I know it sounds corny but it brings me peace.
One thing I had trouble with was the total selflessness the book asks for. I don't come close to the perfection Dyer discribes. I do the best I can do and use the book to re-enforce or remind me of how I want to be. If all that goodness seems overwhelming to you at first, just try practicing the basic principles and try using his examples. It works and it's amazing.
This book is a one of a kind masterpiece. Dr. Dyer hits it right on the head and sums up what many other authors and speakers try to convey. Change your thoughts, it's that simple. I firmly believe in the Power of Intention and have actually witnessed this power in my daily life. If you could only read one book, make it this one, you won't regret it!
