If you went to high school in the 50's or have heard about the "era of innocence" you will throughly enjoy this book. You will laugh, cry, cheer, and those who didn't have the privilege of being in high school in the 50's, will be envious. A truly refreshing look at what can be accomplished through hard work, belief in God, love, respect, perseverence, committment, sacrifice, leadership & teamwork.
You will get hooked from the first page - not only is it a compelling story of the transformation of a football team, the Zee-Bees, who came to believe in themselves through their demanding coach, but a history of the very unusual town of Zion, Illinois, in a very different era. Bob weaves the very real story to show the dynamic interaction of the students, teachers and coaches. I believe that each of us who read it will find something to which we can relate and possibly change us.
