This book is a thorough, well-researched history of New Thought in America, beginning with European roots (Hermetic teachings, Rosicrucians, Masons, Swedenborg), native American and African roots, extending through the American Colonial period, to Thomas Troward, Mary Baker Eddy, the Spiritualist movement, Emma Curtis Hopkins, D.D. Palmer, the Osteopathic tradition, Ernest Holmes, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and the present-day status of New Thought. It's rather dense reading due to the richness of documentation and detail, but well worth the time for those interested in the topic.
