Reading the accounts of the authors trials through childhood, adolescence and early adult life gave me a better understanding and appreciation of how lucky some of us are. To overcome the obstacles she faced and raise three children is amazing. As I read on I could relate to her challanges as my sister was in an abusive relationship as well. Memories from the past crept into my mind as our family rallied around her in her time of need.
This book is a story of a million stories that happen everyday to someone we know, have known or will know in the future. The author gives us insight to how we can look inside ourselves to find the "inner peace" that will allow us to live the life we were meant to live. That we have control of our own thoughts on how we perceive our lives to be.
As a male reading this book I was caught up in the drama that constantly haunted the author. It was beyond my comprehension why she subjected herself to this treatment, but I realized it was about saving the family. Maternal instincts winning out over self respect.
By the grace of God and her strong will she overcomes these atrocities. How she does it is amazing!!
Read this book if you would like to go deep into your soul and find something you didn't think was there. I did and found, among other feelings, a better appreciation and understanding for woman in abusive relatinships.
I found this book full of mistakes and words printed over and over again, also I think that the author was very self centered. I did not find any bliss or enlightment at all. I think that she came across as bitter and angry.
