From my non-religious viewpoint, this book gives a scientific explanation of spirituality that I can understand. It opens up areas that I previously did not appreciate.

I am a physician and surgeon and have struggled with the concept of spirituality and its biologic basis. Dr. Zimmerman has carefully and clearly outlined the steps taken by evolution to get us to our present thinking non spiritual state and how we can understand the spiritual state as part of our evolutionary "hardware". This book is easy to read and understand by non biologists non scientists and I recommend it to all interested in learning about or learning more about spirituality. A. James Segal, M.D.
