I found this book after doing a search on "Phil Elmore" because I couldn't believe everything I've read about this one guy. Anyone who gives so many people so much to talk about must be onto SOMETHING. I risked the twelve bucks and bought the book and all I can say is, he IS onto something. This is simple, entertaining, easy to read, easy to understand, and free of the childish ego BS of so much in the martial arts. Phil Elmore gets five stars in my book.
That's what this really boils down to...
The worthwhile advice you can find in this book can be learned with a google search or a look over other sites online, but you won't find that advice elsewhere articulated with Phil Elmore's gift for efficient communication and humor. This book boils down the simplest of self-defense in one easy location for the beginner, doing just what it says it is meant to do.
While Phil Elmore downplays his background and clearly does not take himself very seriously, it's obvious he has real training, real experience, and real first-hand knowledge of several martial arts.
The critics of this book are extremely dishonest. What would you expect from those criticizing a cookbook who obviously hate and fear the chef?
