Sometimes it is not necessary to buy the product to write about it. In this case, reading the reviews of others suffices. Positive reviews of books such as this one are written by people who are believers therefore they are mentally conditioned to believe in religious myths. To answer a question posed by all Josephus did not write about Jesus because Jesus did not exist. The character was not a historical figure, the character took on a life of its own with modern man. Notice that the founders of this country, while deeply religious with a belief in "god" or "providence," did not mention Jesus as any kind of influence. The bible was written by jews for jews. The Dead Sea scrolls did not mention Jesus or a Jesus-like figure 'cause there was no such person even if they wanted and were waiting for a messiah real bad. If it hadn't been for the conquistadors Jesus would NEVER had gotten the fame he has so you can blame Columbus and all of the other assassins of races and he and them replaced natural and native "gods" with a jewish mythical cod. Can you imagine where you would be if instead of a jewish god it would have been an Egyptian god? It's not too late for you believers. Don't continue to believe in myth and the sooner that you realize that religion consists of beliefs in myths, the sooner you can use ALL of your mind to improve your lot on planet Earth. Nothing else will help you, especially prayers to the non-existent. Anyone can write an entertaining book that looks like it's historically accurate. Ask Dan Brown!
I was a Catholic Christian who was educated in the fundamentalist view of Christianity. Since the events of Sept. 11, 2001, I read that a group of office workers running down the stairs of World Trade Center and praying to Jesus to save them survived the collapse of the buildings. After reading this, I suddenly developed an urge to find out more about Jesus (a German word pronunced as Yesous). Ever since then, during spare time at night, I have read many books about Jesus (Yeshua) in libraries and from bookstores. This journey of quest has lasted over 3 years until now.
Since I have been a history buff from youth, I used the historical method by comparing history books (Unterbrink's method) to locate Jesus in the era described in the 4 contradictory Gospels (between 6BC and 33AD), and could not find such a man really existed in the history books! Jesus of Nazareth could only be located in a paragraph in Josephus (other historians just copied him), but even in the edition of Josephus that I read, a note mentioned that paragraph could have been a 4th Century Christian interpolation! I was lost. Yet I have a feeling that the Man from Galilee must have existed, so I continued my search.
The books by Alvar Ellegard, Jesus One Hundred Years before Christ, and Israel Knohl, The Messiah before Jesus have been very helpful in my quest for truth, the true Yeshu Messiah. Daniel Unterbrink's book has ended my search, and gave me peace of mind and a sense of fulfillment. I only spent 3 nights reading the book, because I was not willing to put it down until sleepy near midnight. I have found the flesh and blood Jesus, who once said "the truth will set you free". As for me, this means free from sin and superstition! I highly recommend this book to any logical thinking person or Christian (whatever denomination) who wants to find the real Yeshua (Savior) and his true teachings, without reading over 20 books about the Man from Galilee. I was blind, my eyes are open now! Deo Gratiis (thank God), Amun!
