Kriyananda has been a prolific writer. Exactly how prolific is revealed in this little book. Also revealed is the story of how deep his commitment to his guru Paramahamsa Yogananda's cause was, how he singlehandedly took up the challenge to plant the seeds of his guru's thoughts into reality, despite being cast out of the parent organization (SRF) to which he had given his life. This blow would alone have decimated anyone; Kriyananda converted it to an advantage; he found his very own mode of self expression in writing. And write he did, sixty two books according to this book, eighty odd according to a later count. These books are on variegated topics, on money, on people to people relations, on societal attitudes, thought forms, happiness, on religion, on spirituality, the works. In this book, we get a fascinating, behind the scenes glimpse of his writing process as Kriyananda explains the motivating factor behind each book that he wrote, the circumstances that eventually made him write it and in some cases, also, the repercussions, how the book was received and so on.
I was, however a bit disappointed in this book which is why I rated it 3 stars. The reason is its terseness in parts. As a book of this particular character, it's fine and in the correct form. There is depth and feeling in the passage following each book description, however, I had expected more on the formation of Kriyananda, when I ordered this book, as its title suggested.
