The opening three chapters relate to learning to prayer effectively through the three persons of the Holy Trinity. The second section of the book deals with the need to intercede for "God's people". Section three branches into what the author refers to as a "more cosmic view of intercession" - the need to prayer for the ultimate coming of God's kingdom, for the "battle" to win each heart for the Lord.

The tips for intercession are varied and personal. For example, the author describes one woman's effort to "pray unceasingly," while working at a fast food restaurant. She had little success with formal prayers like the Hail Mary, but eventually found herself offering short intercessions for customers as she prepared their sundaes and milkshakes. The balance of serious examination of scripture passages in terms of intercessory prayer and these personal touches makes for a good workforce for use by groups.
