I recently obtained a copy of this book as an aid in my praying the Rosary. I thouroughly enjoyed and was in agreement with the first 79 pages of this "guide". To my dismay I found on page 80 with the suggested scriptural clauses to be used following the name of Jesus in praying the second of the joyful mysteries, the following suggested scripture as the first such scripture clause, "Who fell from heaven, the day star and the son of the dawn." Isaiah 14:12 The suggested rosary prayer would thus read "Hail Mary, full of grace, the LORD is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, who fell from heaven, the day star and the son of the dawn."
I am not a professor emeritus of anything but I do know a bit about the Bible , yes even as a catholic! This profoundly disturbs me that such a gross error and misunderstanding of holy writ, maybe it wasnt an error I fear, as this scripture has been commonly interpreted and I quote the notes of the Jerusalem Bible, "The Fathers identified the fall of the Morning Star aka Day Star(Vulg. 'Lucifer') with that of the prince of the demons" Now someone correct me if im wrong but this suggests that Jesus Christ our LORD and Savior is analagous to Lucifer the prince of demons. This is abhorrent and entirely odious. Do you not know your scripture Mr Storey. I shall be returning the "guide" to the publisher with a demand of a refund. Truly shocking !!!!
