This book is a collection of articles that are either directly about Kuyper's political philosophy or an extention of his ideas (or a critical analysis of those). This book *briefly* introduces you to Kuyper's life. I think this text should be supplemented with his Lectures on Calvinism alongside Peter Heslam's book, Creating a Christian World View. Heslam's book is a study of Kuyper's LC. If you can find Frank Vander Berg's biography, Abraham Kuyper, for a more detailed look at what Kuyper worked on while in Parliament and also as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, then those books should clue you in to understanding what is going on in this book.
If you must get this book and have not read anything on Kuyper first, then it won't be too bad. Most of the essays do bring out important highlights about Kuyper and his social reforms. But for the other essays, you'll probably be in the dark. Until I read the other books first, I know that I was.
